Race Overview and Course

The Pacific NW Offshore (formerly “Oregon Offshore”) runs May 14–17, 2026, under the Portland Yacht Club. The 50th edition starts Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Buoy 2 off the Columbia River mouth and finishes near Victoria’s harbor entrance. Racers head north along the Washington coast to Cape Flattery, then turn east into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, passing Duntze Rock to starboard, and finish through (or around) Race Rocks into Victoria . The full distance is about 193 nautical miles. The race promises a mix of conditions: wind-against-swell up the coast, variable tides in the Strait, and coastal currents at the finish.

Classes and Competition

Boats compete in ORC (monohull) and PHRF-PNWO (cruising monohull) divisions, and now a multihull class introduced in 2025. Expect a mixed fleet – from 24′ cruisers to 70′ racers. Past races have seen everything from Santa Cruz 70’s to classic Cal 34’s and even the Canadian sail training ship HMCS Oriole.
