Pal's & Columbia Crossings, Proudly Sponsor The Christmas Ships Parade

Christmas Ships in the Columbia River

Pal’s and Columbia Crossings are excited to sponsor the 71st Annual Christmas Ships Parade, one of the Pacific Northwest’s longest-running and most beloved holiday traditions. Since 1954, this event has illuminated the Columbia and Willamette Rivers with beautifully decorated, lighted boats for fifteen nights each December. It is the longest continuously operating illuminated boat parade in the United States.

Each year, more than 70 volunteer-crewed boats participate, ranging from small vessels to larger yachts, all decorated at the owners’ expense. The parade is completely volunteer-run and supported by community sponsors like us, helping ensure this cherished tradition continues for generations.

The Christmas Ships Parade features nightly sailings across multiple routes on both the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. Spectators can enjoy the lights from various waterfront parks, marinas, neighborhoods, and restaurants throughout the region. The event is free to watch and open to all.

Many parade nights also support local toy drives and community outreach efforts. Toward the end of the season, a Meet & Greet event gives families the chance to see the boats up close and talk with the skippers who bring this tradition to life.

We invite everyone to bundle up, bring friends and family, and enjoy this magical celebration on the water. Whether you are watching from one of our marinas or joining the community along the riverfront, the Christmas Ships Parade is a wonderful way to welcome the holiday season.

Thank you to the dedicated volunteers, captains, and community partners who make this event possible. Happy Holidays from Pal’s and Columbia Crossings!
